Hi There, I am trying to do a comparison on MPG figures. Elsewhere on this forum people have given me a good idea of what to expect in terms of MPG for a 960 3.0 Auto Estate (thanks to all that contributed). Can anyone provide MPG figures for a 940 2.3 LPT Auto estate by way of comparison? Adrian

The LPT is a bit thirsty... I was getting about 23mpg in standard (auto saloon) spec. Its even less than that now :(

I have started to use Shell Vpower as an experiment. I use a mpg app for calculations, I brim the tank to the second time the nozzle clicks off to make sure I am being consistent. The best I have got is 31.8 mpg on a motorway only run and 28.9mpg on mixed motorway and local runs.

The auto is pretty aweful with the constant drag on the engine when stopped in drive and even slowing down. There is such a stark different with the manual that the auto uses more rear pads than fronts. The manual uses them so little they often seize. My sister gets <22 in the auto and 30 in the manual HPT.

Haven't calculated my 1996 940 LPT auto , B230FK but it certainly seems more fuel efficient than my 1989 240 GLT auto B230E:thumbs_up: I don't really mind as they are both comfy and reliable. James:thumbs_up:

there are so many variables its just not an answerable question unless you are prepared to accept accuracy levels around +/- 50%

I get 25 around town and 28-30 on long runs. It depends a lot how you drive and also what load your carrying. If you have a lead foot then 10-20 around town and 20-25 long run. Also depends how well serviced the car is/tyre pressures etc. Mines a manual 2.3 lpt but as said with an auto it tends to be less. I tend to balance the poorer mpg against fewer garage bills and also its a safe big heavy car. As long as its well serviced so far its been pretty reliable. Alasdair

Same here. From memory, the last time I checked this by the brim to brim method, I was getting 27.someting mpg, which would be mainly A/B road stuff.
