HI, did you ever get to the bottom of the oil in the coolant problem? I had the same problem with mine last week. Ive given all the hoses a good clean out along with the expansion tank but im interested to know why it happened... cheers

If you're asking me then no. Between the weather and illness I haven't had a chance to do a lot with it. Should be able to do something over the coming week so I'll keep you posted.

Same here everyone, 1998 V40 TD, got oil in the water, flushed it but it came back, no power lose no signs of water in oil. Friend of mine indicated that he thinks that the "oil cooler is there just above the oil filter where 2 pipes run into it. I've found no other info on the subject. Maybe like the air conditioning filter the dealer sold to the old owner of my car, but there isn't any on the V40 until after 1999, sooooo lets all keep trying maybe there's someone somewhere on the planet who got the knowhow. i have the same problem down to the last detail. found that when i did the tappets. they were very tight, so i tried tighten down the head a bit more first and found one side was a bit loose. done 300 miles now on it. and not much oil has come back in to the header tank. but now it has thrown the engine electronics failure light up and has a regular miss fire at idle and low rpm. any ideas what that is? lamda? cheers, A
