Recording a buffer of a configurable time as soon as the rec ready button engages, son when you press record it starts recording but you can roll back a few if you missed the time you started recording. This would be very usefull on live recording situations or to make a quick manual punch-in that you can adjust later. That's a feature I miss in my workflow and I guess many ex-Cubendo users, like me would like too. By the way, I've switched entirely to REAPER years ago and I'm more than happy. Thanks!
Yes, but in this mode you have to have a pre roll, Imeant when you are in stop, and start recording directly, so you can have some seconds to trim backwars. I don't know if I'm explaining it right.
I've been trying to get used to using pre-roll, but I find it tedious to have to change the amount of pre-roll so often compared to just regular punch-ins, but then at the same time I get nervous that I'll miss that first note when using a regular punch-in. I know time selection and item selection auto punch also record before the first note, but similarly it seems a bit tedious to have to make the time selection before hitting play, rather than just hitting play and knowing that you have everything. Idk! I'm getting used to the workarounds, but I would really appreciate this type of quick punch mode. Sorry to hijack the thread :)
I think the only difference with PT QuickPunch and REAPER's Auto punch is when there is no time selection it does not capture in the background. I completely forgot about that. Been so long since I used PT. I think reaper has a recording trick PT can't do. Arming and disarming tracks during record.
Ah ok, so it is like Retrospective MIDI Record, but with audio. I didn't know Cubendo had that! I think either the retrospective audio recording you're describing or the quick punch mode I thought you meant would be amazing in Reaper
