I'm recording 16 bars of midi grooves from a drum machine and want to render them to files for access later. How would I render them? Cheers, jeff

Do you mean you want to record the actual sounds and not the midi? If so this may help,

Hey Shep, No just the midi files, I want to store them in another separate file to access them as midi to run a VSTI. There has got to be a way I just can't find it or figure it out....)-'

If you open any midi file in a Reaper track with the midi editor e.g double click on the tracks midi file. Then go to File/Export to New Midi file. Does that help?

You could also just convert them to MIDI files. Highlight all MIDI items you want to save and rightclick -> Item processing -> Convert active take MIDI to file (ghost-copyable). You'll find the files in the project's directory (or the path in Project settings, if set). The names will have a "MIDI nnn" suffixed but I guess it would be a good idea to give the items descriptive names before converting anyway. Or you directly record as *.mid files in the first place. This can be set in Preferences->Media->MIDI: Create new MIDI items as: (check the option (.MID files").
