How? I execute the action with the file I got from the stash (EZ drummer Note Names) and nothing happens. Thanks. If that's not the right file, does anyone have one that works in the current version, Beta 10?
If you open Options->Show REAPER resource path, you should see a folder "Note names" (if it isn't there then make one). Put your drum names file in there and then navigate to it from within the midi editor. Steve EDIT I see you're using a modified menu. What happens if you try to load the file from the File menu, rather than the Actions menu?
Ok, I did that. The file was in my "Downloads" folder. I moved it to that folder (after making it)... "App Data/Roaming/Reaper/Note Names/ ... ... and it still doesn't load. My question is (logically) if a menu says... "Load from file", shouldn't it load from anywhere? If you browse to the file I mean. Anyway, still not loading and I'm totally confused. What am I missing here? All I want to do is see EZDrummer note names in the key editor and (30 minutes and counting), no joy. This is done all under the assumption (?) that when I split these drum pitches up all of the new tracks will take their names from the note names, so I don't have to type in 30 drum names on the new tracks. Is that the case? If not, I can just stop trying to load them. I can't see for myself obviously since the names won't load. :(
--------------------- ---------- NOT with that company any more.
I'm utterly at a loss. I've tried variously going through Files and going through Actions, and they take me to the Note Names folder where I can open the file. But a quick thought while I go and check my ini file. You drum names file does end .txt doesn't it? Steve EDIT You've somehow downloaded the wrong file. You appear to have the HTML document instead.
That file in your screencap indeed looks like it contains html code when you watch the preview on the very right hand side at the scene where it's shown in the explorer. You might have downloaded the wrong thing. Here is my Note Name file for EzDrummer Standard kit (too lazy to upload, so I give you the copy/paste version. You see, they are built very simple with each row a note number with the according name. Code:
Hi Lawrence, also try this. Go to Tools in any folder and uncheck the hide extensions button Then save this for all folders. I really don't know why MicroSoft-in-the-Head have this as default. Steve
ARhg! :( I need tutor-ation... :) I have my drums split now and all I want to do is render them all to mono stems so I get every pitch to an audio track. When I select them all and do that from here... I get empty audio files. EZDrummer isn't setup multiout, but the tracks are split by pitch and I can render the pitches this way in my other sequencers, so... my expectation is that it will render each pitch anyway, but.. the instrument is on the folder. Do I have to have discreet audio tracks playing from the instrument to render the pitches to separate audio files? Looks like I may have to order a few more "Help a ReaTard Cross The Freeway" merit badges. :( Do I have to create and route 18 more audio tracks just to print these 18 stems?
I do this every day and you just can't do it here. It's... kind of frustrating actually. I own at least two sequencers where you can split drums by pitch and render each individual pitch to an audio file on one export operation. They - in series - solo each track and render them knowing that they are all playing through the same output pair. There's no need to route anything from the VI if the pitches are split up. My assumption was that the same would happen here. EZDrummer only has 8 outputs so I couldn't even do it manually anyway with 18+ drum pitches. Not all at once. :( There should probably be more "logic" built into some of these processes. "Render Stems Of Child Tracks" comes to mind here... to go through and solo and render each child midi track under a folder (through the parent bus folder since that's where the audio is playing)... and bring those in as new audio tracks under the folder. Gosh, I can have a world class woody for Reaper one moment doing one thing and the next moment it makes me really frustrated. :( If anyone is wondering... "Why the heck does he keep trying to do midi in Reaper if he's having all these issues?"... I'm wondering the same thing actually... if it's even worth the trouble.
